Ketchup Sandwiches and Kool-Aid
Before I go into a speech about race and disrespect I have another issue: Yasmin Giles I believe might be from central casting. Her credits include Cheaters, Survivor, and a hairstylist show that I can't name. I'm pointing this out because Survivor might be fake like many other reality shows. WTF. Survivor is a game show; does it need to be fake? Let’s run down the usual suspects: the sassy black chick, the redneck, the white girl, the jock, and so on. This sounds just like a high school in suburban New Jersey. I would also like to point out that Russell Hantz (self proclaimed protagonist) conveniently and easily found the immunity idol and there’s buzz on the internet that his bio might be fake.
When I started watching the show last night I had my mind set on talking about Russell Hantz and his shenanigans, the immunity challenge and why they voted off Betsy Bolan (Jaison Robinson the law student was the only one to spell her name wrong). But I got focused on the fact that Ben thought it was OK to call someone ghetto trash. Is this the new way of saying the dreaded and feared N word?
After Yasmin Giles approached Ben for tackling her 110 pound body during the immunity challenge Ben later said “She is ghetto trash plain and simple; she needs to go back to eating ketchup sandwiches and drinking kool-aid and doing whatever else she does”. Does ketchup sandwich = fried chicken and does Kool-aid = watermelon?
Let’s be clear: when you say certain things you're making a statement about a group of people but Ben is probably a card holding member of some hate group. Although Yasmin is definitely crazy as a bed bug there’s no need for obvious racially motivated statements that Ben made. I’m glad that most of his tribe (Foa Foa) wants him gone and hopefully next week they will lose there third immunity challenge to Galu.
One more thing: it was sad that (the old guy) Mike had to be pulled from the game after over exerting himself during the immunity challenge.
