Recap - Antm Cycle 13 Episode 03 - Who Got Eliminated

Welcome to America's Next Top Model Cycle 13 Episode 3.

We'll skip the recap because we all know what happened: poor Lisa didn't make the top 14, then got called back, then got eliminated for being the saddest, (although prettiest) clown that America's Next Top Model has seen so far. Unfortunately, sad clowns don't work for Nigel Barker and the rest of the judging panel, who were not feeling the presence of "second chance at life" enthusiasm. Oops, I guess we didn't skip the recap after all.

Last week we were treated to a preview of somebody getting kicked out of the Wilhelmina modeling agency and the house so I am totally looking forward to it being Bianca. Cross your fingers with me.

On to this season's introductory sequence: two thumbs way up. The graphics are great the girls looked absolutely amazing and except for maybe one two too many photos of Tyra it all looks phenomenal. Kudos to the graphics department.

Starting things off, 21-year-old Bianca admits that her mouth gets her into way too much trouble and vows never to be in the bottom two again. Although it would be nice, I'm not sure that Bianca will be able to keep her mouth shut. 18-year-old Rachel blinks her dreamy eyes and talks about how Sweet it is to be on the show. 22-year-old Courtney declares she is "so over this broken foot" and finally takes her boot off. And then it's time for Tyra mail after which the girls are little over to the Wilhelmina modeling agency. 19-year-old Lulu practically needs to pinch herself to believe this is happening.

Sean Patterson, president of Wilhelmina, actually meets with each of the girls individually. Lulu fails the who is your favorite photographer test. Courtney walks through the pain and make sure and proud of her. 23-year-old Jennifer's lead the eye gets noticed but her walk seems pretty tight. Unfortunately Rachel totally dropped the ball when asked to do a little musical theater and presented zero charisma. Sundai is called out for being only 5'3" tall. Sean has questions about Bianca being so severely shorthaired as well as petite which causes her to present herself as a little bit "beggy". Then comes the surprise cut and the model to go is... Rachel.

Meow Alert: Jennifer lets the claws out and declares that a vote was sad to see Rachel go she's just glad it wasn't her.

Cheese alert: the models are called in for a "perfect picture in one shot" challenge and are rescued by Tyra Banks' altered ego "Super Smeyes" (as in smiles with my eyes). Tyra then look as good as she could have in the costume but she did give the girls one-on-one instruction on how to SMeyes. Paraphrasing 21-year-old Brittany: "kudos to Tyra for working directly with the girls". Correction: Tyra spells "Smeyes" as "Smize".

Challenge number one: Tyra dresses the girls in pinkish bodysuits which expose only their eyes and rates them mano-a-mano on their ability to Smize. The reward is a dinner date with Sean Patterson at Tyra's favorite restaurant, "The Bizarre". First is Courtney versus Erin: Courtney wins. Next is Lulu versus Rae: Lulu wins. Sunday versus Laura: Laura wins. Kara versus Nicole-ANTM-2009-Cycle-13.cfm' style='font-weight:bold'>Nicole: Kara wins. Brittany versus Ashley: Brittany wins. Last but not least Bianca versus Jennifer: Bianca wins. All told: five winners and the five losers get to dress as waitresses and provide actual cleaning services. Dinner was sweet and informative.

Tyra leaves the girls a note stating that "in some professions, being small is a big advantage." Lulu makes a sarcastic criticism based on her lack of understanding of the note's meaning.

Meow Alert: As anticipated, Bianca is not able to keep her annoying personality in check which gets on Jennifer's nerves and gives the opportunity to 22-year-old Ashley to quote that "Bianca has no tact". Bianca of course believes that being a social annoyance is all part of stepping up "the game".

Photo shoot: 8:28 AM the girls head out to Santa Anita Parke where they will pose nude on top of a horse. This week's photographer is Farooz Zahedi. Why the girls have to actually be topless I have no idea -- the girls are given ellaborate extensions to cover their breasts and everything is blurred out for television anyway, so why didn't they just use pasties? The photo shoot starts with Rae who gets much praise for letting the hair fall to the side and her little boys kiss to the sun. Next up is Jennifer who gets a rambunctious horse and criticism from J. Alexander for her lazy eye. Britney did amazingly well it was all fashion. Nicole came on and look as awkward as she ultimately admitted to feeling. Ashley was requested to laugh a little bit more. Erin brought out the blonde pretty girl look. For some reason, they flashed us a crotch shot of Laura who did her pony peace in pigtails and offered thus the quote of the night, which was "...and then it was nude, which made me even more thrilled, because I just like nude." Lulu needed some coaching to lighten up and work with different pose angles. Oddly, despite pretty photos and Jay thought Courtney looked too "hard". Apparently, Jay likes his girls to exhibit maximum vulnerability when riding on horses. Bianca came out angry, stayed angry and was compared by J. Alexander to be less feminine looking then former Cross gender contestant Isis (cycle 11). Ouch. After softening up a bit, Kara presented Jay with the vulnerability that he was craving. Ending this little horseback ride was 18-year-old Sundai who worked her body, her mane and her Smize in pleasant enough ways to help Jay end on a happy note.

Meow Alert: Brittany decides to call out Courtney for complaining about her shoot. Courtney meows back that to call her out in the middle of the living room for something that is none of her business is simply stupid. Minus one point for Brittany.
