America's Next Top Model Cycle 13, Episode 12
"America's Next Top Model Is..."

Who said?
Who said: "I don't believe it"? Easy answer this week. That would be both Nicole-ANTM-2009-Cycle-13.cfm' style='font-weight:bold'>Nicole and Laura. And thus begins our final episode of the cycle. The swimming pool looks so big with only two girls left in it. Laura gives us a glimpse of her back story and we finally get a picture of her grandma. Nicole worries that Laura fits the Seventeen and Covergirl images so perfectly that she [Nicole] has to lift her game. Laura takes a look at Nicole's overall personality and decides she's not that much competition. Meow. Laura versus Nicole. Oh, and the reason the pool looks so big is because it runs the entire length of the side of the house. With landscaping. And waterfalls.

Tyra Mail 1:
"If a model falls in the forest, will anybody hear it? Love, Tyra". The mail then continues with "here are your scripts. Memorize your lines for tomorrow..." Uh oh; Scripts, memorization? The outcome is not looking good for Laura.

Finale Photoshoots and Videos:
Photo Shoot Creative Director Jay Manuel is joined by Cycle 12 winner Tyanna to receive coaching for the Covergirl Lash Blast Mascara commercial. Laura holds that Nicole's awkwardness reaching out to people works against. Meow x2. America's next models professional photographer Nigel Barker arrives and Nigel will be shooting one girl while the other one works with Jay on the video. And vice versa. Nigel was enthusiastically impressed with Nicole's look, ambition (a.k.a work ethic) and (capital M) Modeling.

As predicted Laura stumbled during her video take. The more she got frustrated, the more she got frustrated. Added a feel-good moment of phone, Laura defeats dyslexia by keeping up her energy level and delivering each line with just the right amount of zest.

Over at the still photo shoot, Nigel tried to coax more motion out of Laura but ultimately all he got was "milkshakes". Let's try again..." Kitty cats". Okay, let's give up. Meanwhile, despite being a sweet shy girl on the inside nickel presented as snooty during her video session.

More Photo S the next morning and showcase arrives s:
Ann Shoket arrives the next morning with renowned photographer Gilles Bensimon. The intention is to use the mansion as a backdrop for the Seventeen magazine cover photo and inside spread. Both girls impressed Ann, who felt "it is anybody's game at this point".

Tyra Mail 2:
"By now you should know all the elements that make a top model. Bring it to the runway and work! Love, Tyra". Nicole focuses a lot on improving herself by analyzing her inner weaknesses and working to improve them. Laura seems satisfied with herself, but mainly as she measures herself against Nicole.

Tyra arrives to interview both of the girls and gets to know both of them much better. Nicole talks about her solitary style life and her awkwardness and making friends. Sometimes she would even eat her lunch in the bathroom stall so no one would have to see her eating her lunch alone. Laura talks about the limited beliefs of the small towners near her in the support of her grandmother along every step of the way as she pursued her beliefs. Sadly even her teachers and believe in and she's very proud to have made it this far. Tyra sees the inner beauty of both the girls.

Elimination Challenge:
In another first for America's next up model: the top six models are reunited for the fashion show. Fashion designer Julia Clancy meets up with Laura and Nicole-ANTM-2009-Cycle-13.cfm' style='font-weight:bold'>Nicole as the ladies get prepped and try on addresses. Three out of the four returning models are hoping for Laura to win.

Tyanna starts the show who walks glamorously followed by Nicole who's walk seems a little rough -- but [Nicole] is comfortable with it. Laura looks good to Tyra and Nigel who are watching from the audience but what they don't know is that she is literally shaking in her boots. Standard runway shenanigans ensue: quick changes, wind machines, exotic Asian-based music and a dramatic water soaked finish. EVERYBODY was impressed by what a good job the girls did.

Panel and Deliberations:
The ladies make it to panel wearing some of Julia Clancy's designs. Laura goes for the more glittery cocktail party dress. Nicole goes for the spring afternoon in Paris look.
Runway trainer extraordinaire J. Alexander thought that "Laura did pretty damned well" and he "wasn't really surprised". Tyra felt she "walked like a girl who had been doing Paris fashion week for a couple of seasons. I was pleasantly surprised". Professional photographer Nigel Barker and Tyra both agreed that Nicole's walked was grunty, yet signature: the point being that "if you are confident in the way you walk and in the way you pose people will come to like it and love it - and one thing for sure, you will not be ignored".

Next is a review of girl's body of work. First the baby photo: tie. Then Make Me Tall photos: Nicole. Tyra shoot one: tie. Cirque du Soleil: Laura. Underwater: Nicole. The new Covergirl commercial: editing put them together as the dynamic duo, but panel re-separated them as competitors. The winner: Laura. Nigel Barker Covergirl ad photo: tie.

Covergirl presents Top Models in Action:
Tyanna from Cycle 12 now lives in New York City and is signed with Elite Model Management. Her work has now taken her to South Africa where she is modeling for Glamour magazine and taking over the runways in Cape Town fashion week. Congratulations, Tyanna.

Deliberations:
Terrapin gongs between Nigel and J. Alexander on their impressions of the girls. First she asks for first impressions. Then why would you book her as a [petit] model? What genre of modeling would be the model's target (including style and continent)?

The Week's Top Photo / Elimination:
Nicole gets the title
