America's Next Top Model Cycle 13, Episode 10
"Dive Deeper"


Who said?
"I don't even know why Aaron is still here. She's just hanging on by this little thread and somehow manages to just swing back every single time and we're just trying to flick her off -- -- like, why are you here"? And thus begins (mostly) Episode 10 of America's Next Top Model.

Tyra Mail 1:
"You never know what can come to shore; I hope you look appropriate." Nicole-ANTM-2009-Cycle-13.cfm' style='font-weight:bold'>Nicole thinks the message means sea turtles. Jennifer thinks the message means animals. Later the girls tried to dig a little deeper into Sundai's story but she won't let them. Instead she sucks her thumb while going to sleep and promises that if she makes the top four she'll tell the whole story (which includes the foster home, etc.)

Happy Birthday, Laura
The next morning brings us to the celebration of Laura's birthday. Happy Birthday, Laura. And with This Birthday Celebrated on America's Next Top Model Laura feels she is finally on track to fulfilling her dreams.


Challenge Training:
It's Hawaii so of course the girls returned to the beach for the next photo shoot and meet Marisa Miller (American supermodel). Laura couldn't dream of a better person to meet on her birthday in Jennifer's brain to cartwheel. Lastly, Nicole couldn't believe that Marisa is only 5'8" tall.

Marissa then moves on to teach the girls how to be hot but not over-the-top. It might be worth noting that Marisa has more breast than at least four of the girls put together but we'll see how they do... professional tips include: posture: push out the butt and don't hide the curves; knowing your audience: shoot bikinis from the side for women and straight on for men; for full-length shots: use the Barbie tell a.k.a. stand on your toes as if wearing heels.

So first we get wet and then we roll in the sand and then redo our photo poses while washing it all off. Honestly this is actual instruction on shooting swimwear. Remember to keep your Barbie tell them don't touch your breasts. Don't be too cute you might come off as appearing five years old (Sundai). Erin thought she had it all under control because she is open for quote totally aware of what her body does". Nicole had never tried to be sexy for anybody before so stuck to what Marisa had taught her; Rizzo was impressed.

Photoshoot Challenge:
In walks America's Next Top Model's professional photographer Nigel Barker who introduces the girls to their photo challenge which involves jumping off of a cliff into the water. I think Jennifer said it best: "I could burst my head and die right in front of Nigel and Marisa; that is not the way I want to go". The girl who manages to strike a ball holes that is both sexy and graceful under these extreme conditions wins. The caveat: they only get one shot at it.

Laura volunteers to go first then attended it as if she's about to have a heart attack -- then she takes a plunge. Erin likes jumping off cliffs "I'll jump off anything" so just get her started. With the idea that she needs to work twice as hard to impress the judges she takes the plunge. Nicole-ANTM-2009-Cycle-13.cfm' style='font-weight:bold'>Nicole goes next with the analytical approach and applies these posts to the side rule; unfortunately Nigel and Orissa thought as she turned to the wrong side. Jennifer was "peeing my pants; but, I jumped" -- ultimately she found the experience to be one of the most exhilarating of her life. Nigel teased Sundai about waiting till the last day of the week to take the plunge and with her fear for her life firmly in grasp, she dropped herself into the water.


Feedback And Prize Money:
Marissa starts the feedback with "you all did a fantastic job...". This causes Nigel to lean back a little and look at her and that she has totally lost her mind. Nigel is a funny guy sometimes. Marissa goes on to explain that the winner of this challenge will receive a Chocolate Pearl necklace valued at $5000. The winner will also be able to get more frames on her next photo shoot and also grant more frames to a friend. And then the friend can grant more frames to another friend, and so on until one person (who apparently has no friends) will be left out.

I've got to the script writers: being with the girls in Hawaii is SO much more fun. :-) on a more serious note all of the girls agree extra frames is crucial at this stage of the competition.

Laura did pretty good but lost her face a little bit. Erin tried a little too hard and gave us more cheerleader than gracefulness. Nicole almost under estimated but her profile shot turned out actually turned out pretty beautiful. Jennifer showed too much fear and forgot the model from head to tell. Sundai turned out looking them most graceful, but for some reason they gave the prize to Nicole.

Nicole climbs onto a rocket at her friends and then chooses Sundai. Sundai chooses Laura. Laura chooses Jennifer. Erin gets the disadvantage at the next photo shoot, to which she shrugs and adds this Erin quote: "I'm kind of pissed, but I'm kind of like, okay, whatever, if I do a great job with the amount of frames I get, it's cool and I'll have shown that I don't need those [head toss, head toss] extra things".

Nicole explains to us why no one chose Erin: "No one chose Erin because... she can be a little brat; and she gets on people's nerves". Then Nicole goes to bed early because after all it is a competition. Just kidding; she stays up long enough to help celebrate Laura's birthday.

Tyra Mail 2:
"Tomorrow you'll be getting friendly with some local natives." -- Laura does the reading honors. [Sidenote: I don't know; I just like keeping track of this]. :-) of course this makes all of the girls think "animals" again.
